Fire safety in Tanzania starts with each of us. To be aware and not to ignore. Fire is real and danger, it kills and destroys. Many might say we never had a fire we don't need that stuff, until they have a fire.
It is a fact that 45% of all fires a kindled by persons. This is a high risk to the whole community. If a work place is not prepared for a fire it can face loss of life and complete loss of business. 75% of all businesses which burned, do not recover.
First step is to evaluate my risk with a professional fire risk audit. Here we will see what risk i have in my work place, how to reduce, how to prevent, what equipment i need and how to train the staff. This is a way also to comply with TZ-OSHA a very important, necessary and mandatory step!
Every insurance company which is in duty to compensate a damaged business, is investigating the incident, and one of the first thing will be looked at is: annual fire risk audit report and complacency with the local law requirements.
Many businesses fail and will not be compensated but be taken to court. Fire safety has a cost factor, but it adds a high value to the business. Let us think twice before we say we do not need this, let us be aware and protect us, our fellow workers, employees, the community and our assets.
Preventive measures are a better investment than a damaged business.
